Lightroom cc / Lightroom 6

The new version of Lightroom was released yesterday (21/4/15)

If you are subscribed to Adobe Cloud you will obviously get the upgrade automatically but for those of you who wish to you can still buy the standalone version … but it’s perhaps not entirely obvious how you do it as Adobe is obviously keen to promote the CC version.

To buy/upgrade go to Adobe’s Lightroom product page, scroll all the way to the bottom, and look for the “buy now” button in the box for Lightroom 6 Standalone.  It will default to the full version with a price (as of this moment) of £103.88.  Once it’s in your cart, you can click the “Edit” button in the upper right to change it to an upgrade version for £59.09 (you need to specify your current version in the dropdown) – upgrade pricing is available to anyone who owns any version of Lightroom 1 through 5.  These links are only for Adobe’s “ESD” (Electronic Software Download) version, which lets you download the installer online, but does not include physical media.

If you would like some information about what’s in release 6 …

Competition #5 Results

The results of the April 1st competitions are on-line. Along with the updated POTY rankings. We finally  found out what a good “surprise” picture is in the theme competition!  Glad that the upload Portal worked pretty seamlessly for you.

Web Site Updates

The web site has had a major update. (Virtually) all information has been transferred from the old Wiki site and the Wiki will no longer be updated. Obsolete Wiki pages have been left in place for now.

We plan to initiate uploading of PDI images for future competitions (starting with comp #5 – to be judged on April 1). The uploading site is currently available (via the Competitions menu) in pilot mode for familiarisation and testing. We will of course let you know when the site goes live to accept images for the next competition.

Tonight is a Big Night for Competitions!

As well as the Open Projection and Set Subject “Strength” competitions taking place tonight, it’s the last handing-in date for your prints for the next competition.  And it’s the last handing-in date for your L&CPU Individual competition entries; prints + digital.

So there will be 16×20 prints everywhere tonight.  No – hold on – they have to be 40x50cm otherwise they will be thrown in the air and stamped on, not unlike my print in the last monthly comp.

Practical Portrait and Macro Evening

Tomorrow (Friday 9th January) the Project Group have organised a Practical Portrait and Macro evening,  using the club’s new Studio Flash.  All members are welcome, not just Project Group members, but a condition of entry is that you may have to volunteer to act as the portraiture model for a short time!

Bring along your cameras, tripods lenses, meters, phones, remotes  and anything else you think you may need.

Meet in the Small Hall from 7.15 pm
