Brian lives in Macclesfield and has been taking photographs for many years. He has presented at WGPS on a number of occasions. He progressed through a variety of cameras and for a number of years from a Nikon D200 then a D300s with a range of Nikon and Sigma lenses. Recently he started to use an Olympus OMD EM1 which he says is a really great camera: small, lightweight but giving really high quality images.
He works mainly in colour with a bit of the occasional B&W. He feels his work has been informed more by painters, particularly the Symbolists and Expressionist. If he had to pick specific painters then Caspar David Friedrich and Vilhelm Hammershoi are artists whose work he greatly admires.
In Dec 2010 he received a CPAGB accreditation from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and in Dec 2011 he became a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) which he followed up with an Associateship (ARPS) in October 2012.
For 8 years up until 2014 he was president of Macclesfield Camera Club.
He is also an accredited judge with the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union.
