Links & Info

We are currently part of  The Guild for Lifelong Learning (formerly the Wilmslow Guild).

We are a member of The L&CPU – Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union.

If you are interested in creating AudioVisual sequences the Wilmslow Guild AV Group also meets at the Guild.

The PAGB web site has some high level information about photography clubs in the UK.

Prints

Nearly every member uses  www.dscolourlabs.co.uk in Didsbury or Reddish, either via the shop or mail order. Their price for a top quality A3 or 16″x12″ is way cheaper than most photo print sites.

Mounting

Some of our members do their own mounting which costs a £1 or two per print. Doing your own mounts is very satisfying and by the time you have bought your own mount cutter and done about made about 20 mounts you will  start making a big saving over having them done professionally.  By the time you have bought your own mount cutter and done about made about 20 mounts you will  start making a big saving over having them done professionally. Equipment

Most equipment is now purchased via the internet, but there are still some shops nearby.

Wex  offers good service and is mainly mail order but does have a showroom in Manchester.

Wilkinson Cameras are also mail order and have showrooms in Chester, Warrington and Liverpool.

The London Camera Exchange has showrooms in Manchester and Chester, in addition to mail order.

Affinity Tutorials

Affinity Photo is an economical alternative to Photoshop and the club is providing advice and instruction at members’ evenings.

To learn more about Affinity Photo software, you can try the maker’s website, or Robin Whalley’s Lenscraft website (this also has Photoshop tutorials); and Olivio Sarikas on Youtube is also excellent.

You can download the pdf manual  from here.
